Optimal Solutions for the Construction of Temporary Roads and Heavily Trafficked Areas
Geosynthetic system solutions play a crucial role in the construction of temporary roads and heavily trafficked areas that do not fall under national regulations, such as construction site access roads, car parks, forest tracks, and access roads. The use of Secugrid® Q geogrids, made from high-strength, extruded monolithic flat bars with welded junctions, enhances the load-bearing capacity of the subsoil.
In combination with Secutex® separation and filtration nonwovens, these solutions prevent fine particles from penetrating the base course, while Combigrid®, as a composite product, integrates both functions into a single solution. These geosynthetic solutions increase load-bearing capacity, reduce rutting, and minimise the need for costly soil replacement measures.
Improvement to bearing capacity
In the construction of heavily trafficked areas such as parking lots, a stable subgrade with sufficient bearing capacity is required. When installed between the subsoil and the base course, Secugrid® Q geogrids, made from high strength, extruded monolithic flat bars, with welded junctions, are particularly well suited for this application.
Reduction of rutting
When building unpaved roads (e. g. forest paths and temporary construction roads) on soft subsoil, rutting and inter mixing of the cover material into the subsoil should be avoided. Combigrid® or Secugrid® geogrids can significantly im prove load distribution, minimise rutting and soil intermixing.
